I use PC's and Macs and i always backup. However, I find it much easier on the Mac as it will do the backing up automatically using Time Machine. Don't get me wrong as i know that Windows has alternatives too but I find that they do not work as well.
With the introduction of Time Capsule from Apple for Macs and Windows it has become much easier on both parts. The TC allows a network of Macs and PC's to be backed up to the hard drive that is inside the TC (either 500gb or 1tb).
The TC also acts a wireless router for internet access and is an all in one machine which i find incredibly useful. However it is still harder for Windows PC's to backup to TC as they are a bit slower. The wireless backing up though, is useful albeit a slower than the conventional USB or Firewire alternatives. You can still backup quicker with USB on the TC but not Firewire which is annoying but not tragic.!!!!
Thank You.
A FAQ that i get is can macs run games that play on windows?
The answer is yes, but you must install a parrallel version of windows to do so.
In the latest OS by Apple (Leopard) there is a feature called Boot Camp which assists users in being able to install a version of either Windows XP or Vista as a parrallel to the Mac OS. When you want to play games you just switch to the Windows parrallel and do so. It is also useful for installing programs that you like but are only available on windows.
There are other alternatives but i consider Boot Camp to be the best option.
Thank You.
I am going to get an iMac from the apple store within this week!!!
I am getting the 20" model with 2.4 ghz proccessor and 1gb of RAM and 500gb HDD.
I was dogged with viruses and harmful spyware on my last pc and i was fed up! So this time around i am getting a mac so that i wont get viruses and therefore the computer will last longer and will deliver better performance!
I also want the editing capabilties and effects available eg. in iSight videos.
I am getting the 20" model because i feel i wont use the 24" capacity and it would just be too big for my room. The 2.4ghz proccessor is enough for what i do, as i dont hardcore multitask with apps and i dont play next gen games. All i will do is surf, edit a few photos and a couple of clips etc.
The 1gb of RAM will not be enough to run smoothly but i am going to purchase an extra 2gb stick from an external site and install it myself as apple charge too much for their RAM.
Thank You.
